At 180 kVA (150 kW) this generator can supply a mid-size construction camp, a busy workshop or an event. The trailer with dual-axle wheels is what sets it apart from our fixed canopy sets: a tow vehicle can place it at a new location in a day.

Canopy choice

Three enclosure levels are listed: silent, super silent and open frame, plus the mobile trailer type. A super silent canopy is the best choice near homes or hotels. An open frame is the lowest cost, and is kept for indoor plant rooms.

Voltage and speed

Output voltage can be set from 220 V to 400 V, and engine speed from 800 to 1800 RPM in the range of options. For 50 Hz you would normally take 1500 RPM, and for 60 Hz, 1800 RPM. The voltage is set to match the site supply.

Starting

An automatic start system is listed, so it can come on when mains power fails, with the right control panel and changeover switch. Specify this when the set is for standby duty.

Cooling

Rated current follows the final electrical design for the selected voltage.

Built to the site

Canopy type, voltage, trailer axle count, braking and lights, duty class and fuel tank size can all be specified. We build and test the set, then ship it in a container or on a flat rack.

Choosing the mobile 180 kVA set

This is the only set in our range that is built to move between locations. Where our 20 kVA and 50 kVA sets are small enough to sit beside one building, the 180 kVA trailer set powers a whole site: a construction camp, a mine workshop, an event ground or a hospital backup. The trailer lets you tow it to each site rather than crane it, which is why contractors who relocate every few months choose it over a fixed 500 kVA plant.

Think about three things before ordering. First, the towing vehicle must be rated for a set of roughly two to three tonnes plus fuel. Second, trailer sets are usually run at ground level on jacks, so the ground must be firm and level. Third, cooling matters in hot climates, where a radiator-cooled engine with a generous canopy air path is the usual choice.
