  • Brightfield and fluorescence options
  • Camera and software options

Overview

What it is

An upright microscope has its objectives above the slide and the light path below, which is the standard layout for slides on glass. It is used to view stained tissue, blood films, microbiology slides and many research samples. We offer the range as a configurable system, so a clinical lab and a research lab can have different builds of the same type of instrument.

Building the configuration

The optical quality of a microscope comes from its objectives and illumination as much as from its stand. We therefore start from the method, not from a model number. Typical decisions are:

  • Binocular or trinocular tube, depending on whether a camera is attached
  • Number of objective positions and magnifications on the turret
  • Brightfield only, or with phase, darkfield, polarizing or fluorescence
  • Mechanical stage type and travel
  • Digital camera, software and measurement functions

Where it is used

Pathology departments, diagnostic labs, university teaching and research groups. Choose the observation method first, because it limits which objectives and attachments you need.

Choosing a configuration

  • Observation methods and sample types
  • Required magnification range
  • Camera resolution and interface to your computer
  • Power supply and lamp type
  • Spare bulbs, filters and dust covers

Configuration and illustrations

Magnification, fluorescence ability and camera interface are only fixed once the configuration is agreed. Images on this page are for illustration of the type of instrument and should not be read as a list of included parts. We provide a written configuration list with every quotation.

Care

Keep the microscope covered when idle, clean the optics only with suitable materials, and keep spare lamps or LED modules on hand. We include basic care instructions with the delivery.

From teaching to research use

This upright microscope is for samples on slides, such as stained tissue, blood films, cultures and cytology. A basic setup with LED illumination, four objectives and a binocular head serves a clinical lab or school. Adding a trinocular head and a digital camera lets you document and share images.

For research, the configuration grows: infinity-corrected optics, phase contrast, dark-field or polarizing options and a fluorescence attachment for labeled samples. Each option adds cost, so start with what your work needs. Cell counting and routine pathology need good brightfield. Immunofluorescence needs the full fluorescence set with the right filter cubes.

The camera and software are as important as the optics when you want measurements or reports. Choose a camera resolution to match the objective. Sample type, the magnifications you use and whether you need imaging decide the build.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add fluorescence later?

In many configurations yes, but the stand and the light path must be prepared for it. Plan it in advance so the right base is chosen.

Do you supply cameras?

Yes. We can add a digital camera and software to the configuration, based on your resolution and measurement needs.

How is the microscope shipped?

It is packed in protective cases with foam, and the delicate optics are packed separately. We list each part in the packing list.

Do I need immersion oil?

Only for the 100x oil objective, which is used for bacteria and blood films. Lower objectives work dry.
