Overview
What it is
A micro centrifuge spins small sample tubes at high speed to separate their contents by density. This benchtop model is made for small volumes, such as micro tubes and small strip tubes, and fits on a normal laboratory bench. Samples go into a rotor, the lid is closed, and the run is set by speed or by relative centrifugal force and time.
Rotors decide capacity
Speed, force and the number of tubes depend on the rotor you fit. A fixed-angle rotor is common for pelleting cells and precipitates. A swing-out rotor suits applications where the sample must settle flat. Adapters let one rotor take different tube sizes. Speed and capacity are given per rotor and version, not for the whole range.
Refrigerated version
The refrigerated version keeps samples cool during the run, which is important for heat-sensitive material such as proteins and enzymes. Select it if your protocols need temperature control. If they do not, the room-temperature version is simpler and lower in cost.
Choosing a configuration
- Room-temperature or refrigerated model
- Rotor type and tube sizes
- Needed speed and relative centrifugal force
- Mains voltage and plug type for your country
- Biosafety lids or aerosol-tight rotor options
Safety in use
Always balance the tubes, use only tubes rated for the speed, and follow the rotor load limits supplied with the unit. Biological samples may need extra containment, so accessories are chosen to suit your work.
Delivery
The centrifuge ships with its power cable for your market, the chosen rotor and adapters, and an operating manual.
Room temperature or refrigerated
A micro centrifuge spins small tubes, usually 0.2 to 2.0 ml, to separate cells, DNA, proteins or liquids. We offer a room-temperature model and a refrigerated model. The refrigerated model holds samples cool during spinning, which matters for proteins, enzymes and RNA.
Choose room temperature for routine clinical work, short spins and teaching labs, where sample heating is not an issue. Choose refrigerated when spins last more than a few minutes or at high speed, since friction warms the rotor. A refrigerated unit is heavier, louder and more costly.
The rotor sets limits. Maximum speed, relative centrifugal force and capacity all depend on which rotor is fitted. A fixed-angle rotor spins to the highest force, a swing-out rotor gives flat pellets. The tubes and the speed your protocol needs decide the rotor set.

Frequently asked questions
Can one rotor take different tube sizes?
Often yes, with adapters matched to the rotor and your tube list.
When do I need the refrigerated model?
When the sample must stay cool during the run. If your protocol runs at room temperature, the standard model is enough.
Is a voltage option available?
Voltage and plug are matched to your country in the quotation.
Should I think in rpm or in x g?
Use RCF (x g) in your protocols, as it is independent of rotor radius. The display shows both, and the conversion depends on the rotor.
