Overview

What this press is

A narrow-web flexo press prints a narrow roll of paper, film or label stock. Each printing unit applies one color, and a configuration can be built up by adding units. Between them sit drying units and converting stations such as die cutting, slitting and rewinding. The press is the core of a label or flexible packaging plant.

Build it to your job list

Because the machine is modular, you can order the number of colors and the extra stations you need now and plan to add more later. Typical choices include:

  • Number of printing units, from two up to ten colors
  • Drive type: servo-driven or shaft-driven
  • Drying: IR, UV or LED UV, with chill rolls for heat-sensitive film
  • Converting: die cutting, laminating, slitting, sheeting
  • Roll handling: unwind, rewind and web guide

Match the press to the material

Paper labels, shrink film and thin films behave differently on a press. Drying method, tension control and plate system need to be chosen by the material, not only by the number of colors. We ask for your material list at the start of the quotation.

Choosing a configuration

  • Web width and repeat range
  • Number of colors
  • Drying and cooling
  • Converting stations
  • Ink system
  • Power supply and plant layout

What we do not promise on this page

Speed, registration accuracy and web width are set for the exact configuration, not for the series. We provide those values in writing with the offer and can discuss print trials with your samples.

Planning your plant

A label plant also needs plate making, ink handling, roll storage and finishing. Share your workflow so that the press and its converting stations fit the rest of your operation.

Compared with the woven-fabric press

Many plants ask whether a single press can do both labels and bag printing. In practice it cannot. A narrow-web press runs fine, thin, flat materials with tight register, small print repeats and quick job changes. Woven fabric is coarse, rough and wide, and needs a wider machine built for heavy rolls.

Within this machine class, the main choices are the number of colors, the drive type and the dryer. Servo drives give faster changeovers and more repeatable register for short runs, while shaft-driven presses suit long runs of the same job at lower cost. UV and LED UV dryers are used for film and for high-quality labels, while IR and hot air are more common for paper. Send a list of jobs with material, web width, color count and daily meters, and we propose the press, dryer and finishing units to suit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start with fewer colors and add more later?

The modular design allows more units to be added, but the base frame must be chosen for that growth. State the plan up front so the right frame is chosen.

Can the press print on film?

Yes, with the right drying, tension control and cooling. The configuration is matched to the films you plan to use.

What do you need to prepare a quote?

Your product list, material samples or specifications, web width and the number of colors. With these we can propose a configuration.

Can the press die-cut labels in line?

Yes, when a die-cutting unit is added to the configuration. This lets the web print, cut and rewind in one pass. Label shape and the number of jobs per day set the die-cutting unit.
