Overview

What a panel tank is

A GRP tank is assembled from molded fiber reinforced plastic panels rather than welded or cast in one piece. The panels are pressed from glass fiber and polyester resin, joined with bolts and sealing, and held together by internal and external reinforcement. This is why very large tanks are possible: every part still fits on a truck.

Compared with stainless steel and PE tanks

A GRP tank sits between the two: rust-free, light for its size, and flexible in layout, so it can be fitted to an irregular plot or a rooftop. Glass-fiber panels weigh far less than steel, so a crew can carry and bolt them without a crane. The material does not rust, which suits water with chlorides, rooftop tanks and regions with poor water quality. Panels can also be supplied in colors, and opaque grades block light and slow algae.

Compared with a stainless steel panel tank, GRP is lighter and more economical, but it is not as stiff and does not handle heat or heavy impacts as well. Compared with a one-piece polyethylene tank, which is limited by the largest size that can be molded and shipped, you get much larger volumes, since panels ship flat and are assembled on site.

Sizing

Panels come in 1 x 1 m, 1 x 0.5 m and 0.5 x 0.5 m sizes, combined to reach your length, width and height. There is no fixed catalog capacity. You send the space and the volume; we return a layout drawing with panel count, tie rods and supports. Your civil contractor builds the concrete base to our load drawing. The base matters more here than on a plastic tank: the slab must be level. For fire-water or other critical stores, internal bracing and extra panel thickness for the lower rows can be added.

Drinking water

Potable use depends on the resin, the lining and the approvals your region requires. Documents are checked before quoting rather than assuming suitability.

What the supply includes

Panels, fittings and base frames are agreed in the quote. We state in writing what is included, and what the customer prepares, so there are no surprises on site.

What can be specified

Frequently asked questions

Can the tank be split into compartments?

Yes, a divided design is possible so one compartment can be cleaned while the other stays in service. This is shown in the layout.

Who builds the foundation?

Your civil contractor builds it to our drawing. We provide the load data.

Can you ship it in a container?

Panels are flat and pack efficiently, so a tank usually ships in containers. We plan the load from your panel schedule.

How long does assembly take?

A small tank can be bolted together by a few workers in a day or two. Larger tanks take longer, mainly because every flange joint is sealed and tightened row by row.
