Overview
From pulp to reel
A paper machine turns thin stock into a continuous sheet. Our lines cover stock preparation, the headbox and forming section, the press section, the dryer section, an optional size press or coating unit, calendering, the reel and the rewinder. Each section is sized to the others so the whole machine runs as one.
No single standard configuration
Kraft liner, fluting and other board grades differ in fiber blend, number of layers, basis weight, width and coating needs. Machine speed, dryer length and press arrangement all follow from those. For this reason we give no fixed width, speed or capacity for the product family; we calculate them for your grade and annual tonnage.
New lines and rebuilds
For a new plant we engineer the machine, stock preparation and utilities as a package. For an existing mill we can upgrade a section, such as the press or the dryers, to raise quality or output without replacing the whole machine.
What we ask before proposing
Your raw material (virgin pulp, recycled fiber or a mix), the grades and basis weight range, the sheet width, the annual output target and the services available at the site: steam, water, power and effluent treatment. These decide the drive power, dryer type and water circuit.
Delivery and commissioning
Machine sections ship in stages with installation drawings. Our engineers support erection and start-up, and operator training can be arranged within the contract. Spare parts lists are issued with the equipment.
Quotation
Use the quote checklist below and our engineers will reply with a written scope, drawings or a specification, and a clear list of what is and is not included. Questions on shipping, spare parts and installation are answered in the same reply.
How to size a machine line
Paper machines are not catalog items, so the first job is to fix four numbers: the product (kraft, liner, fluting or board), the basis weight, the trimmed width and the daily tonnage. Speed follows from these. A wider, faster machine lowers cost per ton but needs more pulp, more steam and more wastewater capacity, so the mill around the machine has to grow with it.
It is also worth separating a new line from a rebuild. A rebuild keeps the foundations and some drives, and usually replaces the forming, press or dryer parts that limit speed and quality. We study the existing equipment before we propose which parts stay. For a new mill, consider the supply of fiber (virgin, recycled or both) before the machine width, because the stock preparation system is shaped by it.

Frequently asked questions
Can you rebuild only part of an existing machine?
Yes. We can supply a new press, dryer or reel section and tie it into your current line after a survey of drawings.
Do you design the stock preparation system too?
Yes. Stock preparation can be part of the package, matched to your fiber and the capacity of the machine.
Can the machine make more than one grade?
Often, within limits of weight range and fiber. The grade range is set during design.
What utilities does a paper mill need?
Steam for the dryers, electric power for the drives and pumps, and clean water for showers and sealing. Wastewater treatment is part of the plant plan, and we ask about your discharge limits early.
