Overview
How it works
Raw water from a river, lake or reservoir is dosed with a coagulant and mixed so that fine particles clump into flocs. The flocs settle in inclined tube modules, where the 60° angle helps solids slide down into the sludge zone. The clarified water then passes through a filter bed of quartz sand and anthracite, which catches the remaining fine particles. Disinfection with sodium hypochlorite or UV follows.
Design values
The plant is designed for raw water with turbidity of 10 to 500 NTU, and the nominal treated water turbidity is 1 NTU or less. The tube settler works at 60°, and the loading rate range is 2.5 to 5 m/h. These are design values, and the real performance depends on your raw water quality, the coagulant selected and operation.
Why a packaged plant
All main treatment steps are built into one skid or tank set, so there is less civil work and installation is faster than with a site-built plant. This suits small towns and rural water stations that need clean water quickly.
Build options
- Daily water demand and the capacity size
- Raw water turbidity range, including flood peaks
- Coagulant and dosing method
- Disinfection method (hypochlorite or UV)
- Scope for pumps, clear water tank and electrical control
Build and installation
We manufacture the plant in our factory and prepare it for shipment. Drawings for foundations and piping are provided, and our engineers can support installation and operator training. Meeting a drinking water standard depends on the source water, the design and the operation, so targets are set in the technical proposal, and verifying with your own tests is recommended.
When this plant is the right choice
This plant is built for rivers, lakes and reservoirs, where the water carries mud, algae and organic matter, and the load changes with rain. The settling step removes the heavy part of the load, so the filters only see what is left and can run for long periods. A packaged unit saves civil work, which is the largest cost in a conventional treatment works.
If your source is clear groundwater with iron or manganese, you do not need the settling stage. Our groundwater plant uses oxidation, filtration and ultrafiltration instead, and is a better fit. For raw water above roughly 500 NTU in flood season, add a pre-sedimentation pond or a larger settling stage, since sudden peaks can overload the tubes. Run a seasonal sampling program before design: the worst month, not the average, decides the coagulant dose and the filter size.

Frequently asked questions
What raw water data do you need?
We need turbidity (minimum and peak), pH, color, organic matter and, if possible, a full lab report. Flood-season turbidity is especially important.
Can it treat water to drinking standard?
The process is designed for drinking water production from surface water. Meeting a given standard depends on the raw water and operation, so targets are set in the proposal and testing the treated water locally is recommended.
What consumables does it use?
Coagulant and disinfectant are the main consumables, plus electricity. Filter media is replaced over time. We list consumables in the operation manual.
What waste does the plant produce?
Settled sludge and backwash water. Both go to a drying bed or settling pond, and the clear water can be returned to the plant inlet. We include the connections in the drawing.
