  • Can be linked with melting and packing sections

Overview

What it does

This machine casts candles in a tray of molds. Melted wax is poured into the cavities, the wax cools and sets, and the candles are released from the molds. The clamping tray holds the wicks in place so the operator does not have to thread each wick by hand before every pour. That saves time on each cycle and keeps the wicks straight.

Output depends on the setup

The series produces from 160 to 600 candles per cycle. The number for your machine depends on the number of cavities, the size of the candle and the cooling method. Cooling is often the limit on how many cycles you can run in a day, so cooling is planned together with the tray layout. We do not give a fixed daily output without knowing your candle.

Where it is used

Factories making pillar candles and household candles, and workshops moving from hand casting to machine casting. Different candle sizes need different mold sets, which can be made to suit.

Configuration options

  • Candle diameter and length
  • Cavities per tray and number of trays
  • Type of wax and additives
  • Cooling arrangement
  • Wick type and wick handling
  • Melting tank, wax feeding and temperature control
  • Packing equipment after molding

Scope

This page covers the molding machine. A full candle line can add wax melting and coloring, wick preparation, surface finishing, inspection and packing. We can quote those sections together if you want a complete layout.

Process testing

Wax, fragrance and color affect the result. We suggest that you share your formulas so that the process can be reviewed before you order.

Compared with the detergent packing line

This is a single machine that makes a single shape per mold set. A detergent line is a system of linked machines. Candle output comes from the number of cavities multiplied by the number of cycles per hour, and the cycle is mostly cooling time. A thin taper cools quickly; a thick pillar cools slowly, so the same machine makes far fewer thick candles per day.

It follows that you should size the machine from the candle you sell most. Give us the diameter, length, wax type and your daily target. If two sizes differ a lot, the better answer is often two mold sets on one machine, rather than a bigger machine. Whether your wax shrinks on cooling also matters, because shrinking wax needs a top-up pour step that affects the cycle.

Frequently asked questions

Can it make different candle sizes?

Yes, by changing the mold set. Each set is made for one candle size, so list all the sizes you plan to make.

Does it include a wax melting tank?

That depends on the quotation. We can supply melting, feeding and coloring sections together with the molding machine.

What limits the daily output?

Cooling time is usually the main limit, along with cavity count and candle size. It is reviewed against your products.

Can the machine make colored or scented candles?

Yes, because color and fragrance are mixed into the wax before it reaches the machine. The wax and the additive loading set the pouring temperature and the cooling time.
