Overview
What this bunk is for
A feed bunk takes more abuse than almost any other fixture in a feedlot: animals push, lean and chew at it every day, and wet feed corrodes it. Our steel bunks are built for that duty. They hold grain or silage at a height cattle can reach comfortably, keep feed off the ground and cut waste.
Grain and silage styles
Grain bunks are sized for concentrates fed in measured amounts. Silage bunks are deeper, because chopped forage takes more volume. Both are offered in several section lengths so you can build a continuous line along the feeding lane and cut down on gaps where feed collects.
Fixed or movable
Bunks can be set permanently along a concrete apron, or built as movable units that you reposition between pens or seasons. Fixed lines suit established feedlots; movable units suit operations that change pen layouts or rotate groups.
Fitting your feedlot
The right bunk length, height and mounting depend on animal size, number of head per pen, feeding frequency and how feed is delivered. If you load bunks from a TMR wagon, the lane width and bunk edge height must work with the wagon discharge. These points are checked before production.
Corrosion and finish
Feed acids and manure attack bare steel, so surface treatment matters. The protective coating or finish is chosen for your climate and feed type.
Supply and shipping
Sections are packed flat or nested for container shipping, with fixings and assembly drawings. Matching water troughs and sorting fences can be quoted alongside.
Scope and documents
Our engineers provide a written scope, drawings or a specification, and a clear list of what is and is not included.
How to choose between grain bunks and silage bunks
A grain bunk has a shallower, narrower trough suited to concentrate feed, mixed rations and short bursts of feeding. A silage bunk is deeper, holds bulky wet feed and sits against a feeding lane where a wagon can drop silage quickly. Choose by your ration: most feedlots finishing on grain and silage use a deeper bunk with a rail, while dry-lot operations feeding concentrate need a lower bunk with cleaner access.
Bunk length per animal matters more than the number of sections. Finishing cattle need enough linear space for everyone to eat at once, otherwise dominant animals take more feed. Fixed bunks suit permanent pens, movable bunks suit rotating paddocks.
Our herringbone parlor (MM-HBP) and mobile bucket milking machine (MM-PMK01) are dairy equipment, not feeding systems. For beef you may also pair the bunk with TMR wagons, water troughs and sorting fences. Send your pen size, herd count and ration, and we propose bunk length and layout.

Frequently asked questions
Can you supply bunks together with a TMR wagon or feed bin?
We can quote matching feeding equipment, but it is not part of the standard bunk supply. The layout decides what is needed.
Do you offer different section lengths?
Yes. The series is made in several section lengths, and we select the combination that fills your total bunk run with the fewest joints.
How are the bunks shipped?
Sections are packed for container loading with fixings and assembly drawings, so a farm crew can install them with common tools.
How do I work out the bunk length I need?
Multiply the number of animals by the bunk space per head for their size, then add allowance for corners and gates. Pen dimensions and cattle weight then give the number of sections.
