Precision for small seed

Onion and carrot seed is small and light, and a poor seeder wastes seed or leaves gaps. A precision seeder meters each seed into a narrow row. With a 5 cm distance between rows, it fits dense bed sowing common in vegetable growing.

Choose your row count

The seeder is offered in several row numbers: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 24 and 25. The right count depends on your bed width and tractor or walking-tractor setup. Fewer rows suit narrow beds and smaller power units; the 24 and 25 row versions suit large open fields.

Frame size

The base version has a frame of 1,100 x 600 x 800 mm and weighs about 100 kg. Wider row counts need a wider frame, so the final size follows the row number.

Setting it up

Seed plates or belts are changed per crop to match seed size. The right set is supplied for the crops you grow, and the hitch arrangement is matched to your power unit.

Seed and bed preparation

Fine seed needs a fine, level bed. Rake out clods and stones before sowing, and use graded, treated seed where possible to keep gaps low. Calibrate on a short strip first, then adjust the seed plate or belt. A well-prepared bed does more for emergence than any change to the seeder itself.

The vegetable seeder is built for small seed such as onion and carrot, and the buyer chooses 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 24 or 25 rows to match bed width. Row distance is 5 cm, so the machine fits fine seedbeds that need careful depth and spacing. At about 100 kg and 1,100 x 600 x 800 mm it is easy to handle.

The 16-row no-till alfalfa drill (MM-NTS16A) sows forage seed at 150 mm spacing. The 18-row soybean planter (MM-SBP18A) is for larger seed and broadacre use. The garlic, potato and sugarcane planters (MM-GLP5A, MM-PTP4A and MM-SCP2A) place cloves, tubers and cane.
