Overview

Walking tractor for rice and mixed farms

The two-wheel tractor is the workhorse of small farms in many Asian and African countries. One engine and gearbox power a rotary tiller for puddling paddy and preparing seedbeds, and it can also tow a trailer or run a pump when you fit the right attachment.

Choosing the engine

Engines run from 8 to 35 HP. The low end suits small plots and light soils. Higher power copes with heavy clay and with larger attachments. At 170 kg it is built to be stable when working in wet ground, and the gear and gearbox drive transmits torque to the tiller.

Size

The machine measures 2,090 x 840 x 1,390 mm, enough for good steering control and for passing through a farm gate. Rotary tines can be replaced as they wear, and we supply spare sets.

Compared with the other tillers

This is the tiller for paddy and wet land. For small garden jobs see the 9 HP unit, and for rows, greenhouses and corn planting choose the chain-rail mini tiller.

Training and spares

Two-wheel tractors reward a trained operator, particularly in paddy where the machine must be kept balanced. We supply a basic operator guide and recommend a spare set of rotary tines, a belt set and filters. Many of our customers order one extra tine set per machine, because tines wear fastest in stony or sandy ground.

How to choose engine size in the diesel tiller range

This model is the heaviest and most capable of the walking tillers in our cultivators group at 170 kg, and it is offered with diesel engines from 8 to 35 HP. The smaller engines suit vegetable land and small paddy plots, while the larger engines let you pull a trailer, run a plough or work wet clay.

The 9 HP power tiller (MM-PT9A) and the chain-rail model (MM-CRT9A) are lighter hand-guided machines for gardens and slopes, with 7–9 HP gasoline or diesel engines. They are not intended for continuous paddy work. Our multi-function crawler tractor (MM-CTR35A), at 650 kg and 25 or 35 HP, goes further when you need a trencher, blade or remote control.

Pick power by soil and work: 8–12 HP for small paddy, 15–20 HP for general farm land, 25–35 HP for trailers and heavy implements. Acreage and the need for road transport decide the engine size and implement set.
