Overview

An electric hydraulic rig

Unlike diesel-driven rigs, this machine runs on a 75 kW electric supply at 380 V. That suits workshops, pilot wells and places where a mains supply or a generator is on site. Hydraulic power turns the spindle across a wide range from 500 to 1,800 r/min, so the operator can match speed to the formation.

Hole size and weight

The maximum drilling diameter is 554 mm, the largest of the rigs in our drilling group, which is enough for casing sizes used in village and farm wells. The machine weighs 3,200 kg and is listed as portable, so it can be carried on a truck bed or trailer to the borehole location.

Depth and control

Drilling depth depends on the drill string, the mast or feed length and the formation, and is specified for your ground.

Choosing between our rigs

For deeper holes, see our 300 m top-drive rotary rig or the 600 m diesel hydraulic rig. If there is no mains power at your sites, choose a diesel model. This electric rig is the right fit when power is available and you want a simple, quieter drive.

Choosing the electric 554 mm rig

This is the large-diameter rig in a group of diesel machines. Its 554 mm maximum hole size lets you drill and case wide boreholes for municipal wells or farms with large pumps. The 75 kW electric motor suits sites with three-phase 380 V power, which cuts fuel use and noise, but it ties you to a grid or a generator. Our diesel rigs go deeper and are easier to use where the grid is absent. At 3,200 kg, this unit is lighter than many large-diameter rigs, so depth capacity is stated per order. Choose this one for wide wells with grid power. The wide hole brings extra cuttings, so pit size and mud circulation need planning. Casing and gravel pack take the most time on a wide well, so a rig with good pipe handling pays back. Electric drive also cuts fuel handling on a long job.

Frequently asked questions

Does it need a generator?

It runs at 380 V and 75 kW. You can use mains power or a generator of suitable size; we help you size it.

What depth can it drill?

Depth depends on your ground and drill string, and is specified for each job.

Is CNC control really fitted?

Yes, it has CNC control. The control layout and what it operates are specified with the quotation.

What power supply does it need on site?

The rig is specified at 380 V and 75 kW, so you need a three-phase supply sized for that motor, or a generator with enough capacity for starting current.
