Garlic needs placement

Garlic cloves must go in the ground the right way up, at an even depth and spacing. That makes hand planting slow. This planter feeds cloves into five rows at once, so a small team plants far more per day with less strain.

Small and light

At 130 x 108 x 78 cm and 95 kg, this is a compact machine. It is meant for terraced and mountain farmland and for clay soils where a large tractor-drawn planter would be hard to use. It is an engine-driven unit.

Spacing options

Row distance can be set to 10 cm or 15 cm, so you can match local practice or the variety you grow. The in-row clove spacing is set at the metering unit.

Matching it to your land

Garlic variety, clove size, soil and slope decide the engine, metering parts and any extra weight or wheels needed for traction.

Clove handling

Grade the cloves by size before planting, because a metering unit works best on a narrow size range. Plant at the depth local growers use and cover firmly. On clay soils, avoid working in sticky wet conditions. A short trial strip in your own field is the quickest way to set the spacing correctly.

Compared with the other planters

This is a compact 95 kg garlic planter with five rows at 10 cm or 15 cm spacing and an engine drive. It is designed for small and sloping plots where large machines cannot turn or climb. One person can walk behind it and plant a plot in a fraction of the time that hand planting takes.

The 4-row potato planter (MM-PTP4A) and 2-row sugarcane planter (MM-SCP2A) are tractor machines that weigh 950-1,200 kg. The precision vegetable seeder (MM-VSD100A) places tiny seed at 5 cm row spacing, not cloves. The seed drills (MM-NTS16A and MM-SBP18A) are for broadacre seed crops.

Choose the garlic planter if you grow garlic on a plot of up to a few hectares and want less stoop labor. Cloves must be separated and graded before loading, because size changes metering. Row spacing of 10 cm or 15 cm depends on your variety and bulb size target.
