Overview
How it works
An inclined-jet turbine is an impulse machine. A nozzle sends a jet of water at an angle onto the runner blades, and the jet leaves on the other side of the runner. Compared with a classic Pelton wheel, it handles more flow for the same runner diameter and runs faster, which allows a smaller and cheaper generator. It suits medium and high head sites with limited flow.
Our 100 kW set
The turbine is arranged with the generator so there is little to align on site. Blades can be made in stainless steel for better wear life where the water carries fine sediment. The product family covers 40 to 250 kW, and the options table shows the head, flow, speed and voltage ranges we build within.
About the ratings
The ranges listed are for the whole family, not ratings of the 100 kW unit. Head, flow, speed and generator type are set from your site data.
Where it is used
Developers and communities use this type of set on mountain streams, penstocks fed from small reservoirs and irrigation systems with a steep drop. It can power a mini-grid or feed an existing local network.
Choosing a configuration
Voltage (220, 380 or 400 V), frequency (50 or 60 Hz), the number of nozzles and regulation method, generator and excitation type, and the control cabinet and protection scope are selected to suit the site. The set is built and tested in our factory and shipped in containers, with installation drawings and commissioning guidance included.
The 100 kW inclined-jet set versus the other impulse and Francis sets
The inclined-jet turbine is the simplest high-head machine in our hydro range. A single jet strikes a runner at an angle, so there is no complex casing or multi-nozzle manifold. Efficiency is lower than a multi-jet Pelton, but cost, size and maintenance are modest, which suits a village scheme or a farm with a mountain stream.
Compared with the 1 MW Pelton, it is smaller, runs at a single jet, and is meant for lower power and lower head. Compared with the 200 kW Francis, it suits sites with heads of about 35 to 120 m and low flow, where a Francis would be too fast and too sensitive to water quality. Its limit is power: if your site could support several hundred kilowatts, the Pelton or Francis route usually pays back more energy. The ratings given for the series run across 40–250 kW, so the 100 kW size sits in the middle and can be adjusted by changing the nozzle size to match your flow.

Frequently asked questions
What do you need to size the turbine?
The net head, the design flow and the site layout. With those figures our engineers select the runner, speed and generator. Family ranges are not individual ratings, so site data decides the design.
Can the set be shipped in containers?
Yes. The turbine, generator and control equipment are packed for container shipping, and we send installation drawings and a commissioning guide with the order. Packing details are listed on the quotation.
Do you supply spare parts and technical support?
We can supply wear parts and a recommended spares list with the set. Our engineers support installation and commissioning remotely, and on site by arrangement.
Can this turbine run off-grid?
Yes. With a load controller or governor it can supply a village network or battery system. For grid connection, add synchronizing equipment and the protection your utility asks for.
